ACT! Tip

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY

Starting ACT! in an Alternate View:

If you are like me, the first place you go when opening ACT! is your Task List.  I want to see what activities I have still pending and how my day/week is planned out.  Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could open ACT! directly to this view or another calendar view?  Well you can!!

How to Start ACT! in Task List view

1.  In ACT!, Tools | Record Macro.

2. This will open a Record Macro dialog box.  Name your macro and give it a description (they can both be the same if you prefer).  Make sure you select "Record everything except mouse events" under the Record events option.  Macros do not always run properly otherwise.  Click the Record button.

3. Click the F7 key on your keyboard.  Be aware that this will open your Task List.  Once the Task List is open, go to to Tools | Stop Recording Macro.  Your macro has been recorded.

4.  Now go into Edit | Preferences | Startup.  In the file location box for "Run macro on startup", click the directory button and choose the macro you just created.  The macros are stored by default in C:\Program Files\ACT\Macro.  Once you have your macro selected, click OK.  Close ACT!, and reopen it, and it will now take you directly to your Task List.
