Defaulting Reports to Preview
 

By default, ACT!'s reports will be set to go to the printer when you run a report.  However, many times you want to preview the report prior to printing it out, especially for long, detailed reports so as to not waste paper.   Instead of manually, changing the output every time from Printer to Preview, you can modify your report so that Preview is the default setting.

 

 
  Setting the Default to Preview

1. Reports | Edit Report Template, and choose the report you wish to set a default view for.

2. This will open the report layout designer.  From this screen choose, Edit | Define Filters.




3. This will open the Define Filters dialog box for you to modify.  In the Send output to  dropdown, change from Printer to Preview, and then click OK.


4.  Save your modified report, and the next time you choose to run the report, it will default to Preview instead of Printer.
